System Stability Risk Quantitative Assessment for Island Operation with PV Plants

Abstract There are stability risks after PV plants drop into island operation, especially in case of unintentional islanding caused by grid faults and the islanding-state detection device fails to operate time. In order estimate those risks, firstly, mechanism three factors (power difference, permeability motor inertia) influencing characteristics system a short time unintentionally dropped operation is analysed theoretically. Then electromagnetic transient model station established. According above, modified Dali Grid integrated with modelled PSCAD/EMTDC, verifying theoretical analysis conclusions simulation. Finally, quantitative risk index assessment method about dropping proposed according simulation results, which provide basis for estimation.
